WHAT WE DO

We work with archives and libraries in Italy and abroad for the preservation, transmission and accessibility of written heritage.

We carry out conservation and restoration work, staff training, and develop plans for the management, preservation, and use of collections.

We promote awareness and appreciation of cultural heritage through workshops and public engagement activities. In vulnerable or conflict-affected areas, we work closely with local communities to protect and preserve their cultural memory.

ARCHIVES
AND LIBRARIES

Cataloguing, arranging, conserving — these are just some of the activities we carry out for archives and libraries. Alongside these, we offer workshops, events, and public initiatives to keep cultural heritage alive, known, and accessible.

International activity

In vulnerable areas, cultural heritage is often threatened by conflicts, natural disasters, and social and environmental fragility. For several years, AMALIA has been working in sub-Saharan Africa and the Middle East, alongside local communities, to protect written heritage: projects of conservation and training that — from Timbuktu to Jerusalem — safeguard collections and promote new opportunities in deeply affected contexts.

Training and Professional Development

Working with cultural heritage requires specialized skills, specific techniques, and hands-on experience. We organize training events for those approaching the world of books for the first time, as well as seminars and workshops on specific topics aimed at professionals already active in the field.

WORKSHOPS

A book is a small world where craftsmanship and creativity come together: paper, printing, and bookbinding invite us to explore ancient techniques that we can still experience today.

We offer events open to audiences of all ages to help people discover the fascinating world of libraries and the collections they preserve — because heritage belongs to everyone, and it should speak to everyone.
